 Home restoration is expensive; before you make a large investment in restoration or remodeling you need to ensure that your home is structurally sound and make any necessary repairs thoughtfully and correctly.

 Historic preservation is important because historic buildings have been constructed with higher standards and higher-quality materials than structures built today, such as rare hardwoods (especially heart pine) and wood from old-growth forests that no longer exist. Preserving historic aspects of your home is also important from an investment perspective because homes with a thoughtfully preserved history sell for more money than those homes that have had their histories removed.
