General contractor Ken Gasch has restored many historic properties in Durham, some in such disrepair that they had been condemned as unsafe structures and were slated to be demolished. To save these historic treasures Ken had to completely remove and rebuild much of their foundation and support systems. Three of Ken’s projects were recognized by Preservation Durham (Durham's historic preservation society) as award-winning contributions to preservation efforts in the city. Ken started becoming known as the crazy guy who could take houses that seemed unsalvageable due to their unsound structure and bring them back to their glory. People in Durham then began to hire Ken to manage structural aspects of their own restorations. Ken enjoys solving complex structural puzzles and helping more Durhamites restore, protect, and enjoy its historic housing stock.

Ken graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He lives in Durham's historic Cleveland-Holloway neighborhood along with his beautiful wife, two wonderful children and one crazy dog in a 1907 Queen Anne that he restored.
